Janine Grant

Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist

It can be very difficult to acknowledge and accept you have a problem, and even more difficult to do something about it. Coming on this site means that you are thinking about how to address your problems. I will try to help you find a way to move forward, improve your mental health and work towards being the person you want to be.

I am an independent Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, working from a therapy room in Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire. I also work virtually using Zoom and Skype.

I am approachable, warm and empathetic. I will listen to your story, and try to understand the problems you are having. Together we will think about the changes you want to make, and work towards them using evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) protocols, strategies and coping mechanisms.

What is CBT?

CBT is a talking therapy and looks at the relationship between your thoughts, behaviours, emotions and physiology. It can help you change negative ways of thinking and unhelpful behaviours which maintain the problems you may have.

CBT helps you to understand the way you perceive the world, and links this with past experience. However, therapy will focus on the ‘here and now’.

CBT is about change. It is an active therapy and helps you to work towards goals you set.

CBT is an evidence-based therapy with extensive research demonstrating its efficacy. It has been reviewed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), who recommend CBT for a number of conditions including depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety disorders. There is also evidence that CBT is helpful in treating many other issues such as sleep difficulties and  self-esteem.

CBT accreditation by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) means that a therapist has undergone extensive training at postgraduate level, specifically in CBT, and continues to learn and keep up with new developments to remain accredited.
